August Jobs Report Surprises With 162K Gain
The US employment report for August showed a stronger-than-expected addition of jobs. According to the data, nonfarm payroll employment added 162,000 jobs in August, surpassing the forecasted gain of 55,000 jobs.
This figure marks a significant increase from July's 21,000 job gain. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 4.1%, while the U6 unemployment rate dropped to 7.7%.
The labor force participation rate also saw an increase, standing at 61.6%. This is up from 61.4% in July.
