Aussie Broker Offers Chance for Ordinary Citizens to Question PM
Joseph Daoud, a Sydney mortgage broker, has launched a website allowing everyday Australians to ask Prime Minister Anthony Albanese a question in person. As part of his charity auction win at Parliament's Mid Winter Ball, Daoud gets to play tennis with the PM at The Lodge and bring three people along to spectate.
The public can submit their questions on Daoud's website, limited to 25 words or less. The winners will be announced on August 30. Daoud has been training for the match and even hired a coach.
In an interview with 7NEWS podcast The Issue, Daoud revealed that he plans to raise consumer confidence and the Federal Budget as topics of discussion with the PM. He expressed concerns about the lack of transparency in budget changes, particularly the tax hike on asset classes such as shares, crypto, and collectibles.
Daoud also shared his observations of the property market, noting that customers are changing their behavior due to the Reserve Bank of Australia's interest rate hikes and big banks' forecasts of significant falls in property prices this year. He mentioned a rise in refinancing and lenders offering cashbacks again, a rare occurrence since COVID.
