Australia Encourages Businesses to Join Biosecurity Efforts

Australia's biosecurity is a shared responsibility among government, industry, communities, and businesses. To mark National Biosecurity Week, the Department of Agriculture encourages businesses to play their part in protecting the nation from pests, diseases, and invasive species.

The Biosecurity Business Pledge Australia recognizes the important role businesses play in safeguarding industries, economy, environment, and way of life. This pledge was inspired by New Zealand's successful Biosecurity Business Pledge and developed with industry to promote collaboration, awareness, and practical action across Australia and Tasmania.

Biosecurity risks are increasing globally due to increased trade and travel. Businesses are uniquely positioned to help prevent, identify, and respond to threats through their operations, supply chains, workforces, and networks. The pledge supports businesses with practical tools, resources, and education to build biosecurity awareness, strengthen preparedness, and encourage action across their organization.
