Australia's consumer inflation expectations have rebounded in August 2026, reaching 4.9%. This marks a rise from July's six-month low of 4.7%, indicating persistent price pressures in the country.

The trimmed mean CPI has been steadily increasing, rising to 3.6% year-on-year in June, matching its fastest pace since September 2024.

Reserve Bank Governor Michele Bullock recently expressed concern about inflation remaining too high and warned of upside risks from commodity price volatility amid the Middle East conflict.
