Authorities Intervene to Stabilize Yen in Rare Coordinated Effort

A rare coordinated intervention by Japanese and US authorities has stabilized the rapid decline of the yen. The move, which involved $5 billion to $10 billion from the U.S. Treasury, aimed to curb the yen's depreciation.

The intervention was a joint effort between Japan's finance ministry and the U.S. Treasury, their first coordinated action in 30 years. This unprecedented move has injected stability into major cross-currency pairs, particularly the GBP/JPY exchange rate.

However, despite the intervention, analysts predict that the GBP/JPY pair will continue to face downward pressure, with a 73% probability of trading lower in the ¥207.59 to ¥216.87 range over the next week.
