AXA Share Price Declines Below Short-Term Moving Averages Amid Inflation Expectations
AXA's share price fell nearly 2% on Tuesday, dipping below its short-term moving averages. The insurer's stock closed at €43.40, down from €44.08 and €44.34 respectively for its 20-day and 50-day moving averages.
The CAC 40 was also trading in negative territory, weighed down by the prospect of a European Central Bank rate hike on Thursday and rising inflation expectations.
AXA's performance is particularly notable given its mixed sectoral context. On one hand, a potential ECB rate hike could support life insurance margins through better bond investments. However, inflation above 3% is increasing claims in property and casualty insurance.
