Axiology Joins ECB's DLT Initiatives, Pontes and Appia
Axiology has been selected to join two major European Central Bank (ECB) initiatives focused on distributed ledger technology (DLT): Pontes and Appia. The selection places Axiology alongside other notable DLT operators, including Clearstream, SWIAT, and Cashlink.
Pontes is a project that aims to link DLT platforms with the ECB's TARGET Services infrastructure for payments and securities settlement. Appia focuses on developing a more integrated tokenized financial system, with the Appia Contact Group bringing industry engagement on both strands together in one forum.
Axiology will be part of the initial Pontes launch and will work to connect its regulated DLT trading and settlement system with Eurosystem payment infrastructure. This will allow for the testing and certification process ahead of the planned launch, but Axiology's participation remains subject to operational requirements, final certification, and regulatory approvals.
Marius Jurgilas, Chief Executive Officer of Axiology, noted that tokenization will only deliver meaningful change if digital securities can connect effectively with existing financial plumbing. He sees Pontes as an important step in making this connection possible, while Appia looks to the future development of a more integrated tokenized ecosystem.
