Baghaei Dismisses US Talks Rumors as USD Falters
Iran's deputy minister of economy and finance, Ehsan Khandouzi Baghaei, made headlines when he stated that Iran has not asked for a resumption of talks with the US. This news comes amidst ongoing global market fluctuations, particularly in the value of the US Dollar (USD).
The DXY index, which measures the performance of the US dollar against a basket of six major currencies, is down 0.19% at around 101.28 as of press time.
The USD is considered the most heavily traded currency in the world, accounting for over 88% of global foreign exchange turnover, or an average of $6.6 trillion in transactions per day, according to data from 2022.
