Bank of Canada Accused of Breaking Anti-Scab Law Again
The Canadian Labour Congress has expressed its disappointment and frustration with the Bank of Canada for violating Canada's anti-scab law. This is the second time in two weeks that the Bank has been found to have broken this law.
According to Bea Bruske, President of the Canadian Labour Congress, when employers use scab labour, they undermine workers' right to strike and compromise fair collective bargaining processes.
Bruske emphasized that Parliament passed the anti-scab law to protect workers' rights and ensure equal treatment under Canada's labour laws. She called on the Bank of Canada to immediately stop using scab labour, comply with the orders from the Canada Industrial Relations Board, and return to the bargaining table.
