Bank of Canada Introduces New $20 Bill Featuring King Charles
The Bank of Canada has announced that it will unveil a new $20 bill featuring an image of King Charles. This marks a significant change, as the late Queen Elizabeth II's image was previously featured on Canadian paper currency. The decision to feature King Charles was made by Justin Trudeau's government as part of their next redesign process.
The Royal Canadian Mint has been producing coins featuring King Charles since 2023, after he ascended to the throne in September 2022 following his mother's death. This is not a new trend for Canada, as monarchs have been featured on Canadian bills since 1935.
