The Bank of Canada's July meeting minutes revealed policymakers' concerns about inflation risks from oil prices, tariff uncertainty, and slowing growth. The Governing Council members were split over whether the recent rebound in the economy would be sustainable.

Despite improving conditions, they agreed that uncertainty remains elevated due to the Middle East conflict. Members saw limited evidence of higher oil prices spilling over into other goods and services, but warned that prolonged high oil prices could lead to broader inflationary pressures.

Policymakers also expressed concern about signs of upward drift in medium-term inflation expectations, although they noted that longer-term expectations remain well anchored.
