Bank of Canada Ordered Not to Use Replacement Workers During Strike
The Bank of Canada has been ordered not to use replacement workers during its ongoing strike by security officers. This is the second time the bank has received such an order, with the first ruling coming earlier this year.
In a statement, the bank expressed disappointment with the decision and stated that it had followed all relevant labor laws. It also claimed that alternative measures were taken to secure its facilities after the initial ruling.
The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) called on the bank to abide by the ruling, stop using replacement workers, and return to the bargaining table to negotiate a fair deal. The union has been on strike for four weeks in Ottawa and Montreal, with 42 members affected at the Ottawa office and seven at the Montreal office.
The bank maintains that it is committed to the collective bargaining process and will take all necessary measures to ensure Canada's central bank is secure. However, it is considering its legal options after receiving the second ruling.
