Bank of Canada Rate Decision Weighs on Canadian Stock Futures
Futures on Canada's main equity benchmark slipped on Wednesday as investors adopted a defensive stance ahead of the Bank of Canada's monetary policy announcement.
The S&P/TSX Composite Index futures fell 0.14% to 2,103.70 points, following a sharp sell-off in the previous session.
The Canadian dollar, trading at around 1.3980 per US greenback, showed relative resilience, with firming energy prices and investor expectations that the Bank of Canada will keep its key benchmark rate on hold at 2.25% for a seventh consecutive meeting.
