The Bank of Canada has unveiled a new $20 bill featuring King Charles III and an image of the Canadian National Vimy Memorial in France. This is the first time a monarch other than Queen Elizabeth II appears on the currency since King George VI in 1937.

The vertical framing of the note includes a line-work image of King Charles, based on a photograph taken for the currency. The reverse side features the memorial to honor Canada's 3,600 fallen soldiers who fought at Vimy Ridge in 1917.

Bank of Canada Governor Tiff Macklem emphasized the importance of banknote security and the new bill's enhanced features. He highlighted the purple security stripe that 'spins and transforms' when the note is moved.
