Bank of Canada Unveils New Vertical $20 Bill Featuring King Charles
The Bank of Canada has unveiled its new vertical $20 bill featuring King Charles. This is the first Canadian bank note to feature Charles, who replaces his mother Queen Elizabeth II.
The new note was introduced by Governor Tiff Macklem, who called it 'visually stunning and more secure than ever.' It features a portrait of Charles surrounded by floral and leafy tapestry inspired by the King's dedication to the environment.
The $20 bill is made of polymer and has several security features, including a purple security stripe that includes elements that spin, transform, and pulse when moved. The note also features plants culturally significant to Indigenous Peoples in Canada and provincial and territorial floral emblems representing the 13 provinces and territories.
