Bank of England Appoints Nicholas Segal as EDMC Chair
The Bank of England has announced the appointment of Nicholas Segal as Chairperson of its Enforcement Decision Making Committee (EDMC), effective August 1, 2026. The EDMC is responsible for making decisions in contested enforcement cases across various regulatory regimes.
Sir William Blair's term as EDMC Chair and Philip Marsden's term as Deputy Chair have expired at the end of July 2026. David Roberts, Chair of the Court of the Bank of England, welcomed Segal and Peter King as Deputy Chair, praising their deep legal knowledge and experience.
Segal brings a wealth of expertise to the role, having served as Assistant Justice of the Supreme Court of Bermuda and Judge of the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands. He also teaches on the University of Oxford's Bachelor of Civil Law programme and has previously chaired the University's Alumni Board.
