Bank of England Holds Base Rate at 3.75%
The Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee voted to maintain its base interest rate at 3.75% on July 30, 2026, with a 6-3 decision.
This was the fifth consecutive meeting at this level, and the number of committee members wanting to raise rates has risen from two in June to three now.
Bank Governor Andrew Bailey noted that inflation had fallen faster than expected, dropping to 2.6%, but warned that energy prices remain high and volatile due to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.
