Bank of England Recycles Desk Phones for Precious Metals

The Bank of England has partnered with The Royal Mint to recycle thousands of old desk phones, recovering precious metals like gold in the process.

Under a new agreement, around 3,700 square meters of decommissioned equipment from the Bank's offices was sent to The Royal Mint's Reformation Metals facility in South Wales for processing and recycling.

The facility can handle up to 4,000 tonnes of printed circuit boards found in e-waste each year, recovering gold, silver, and platinum-group metals.
