Bank of England Remote Work Culture Criticized for Productivity Concerns
The Bank of England has been criticized for its remote working culture, which some argue is counterproductive. According to recent data, staff spent nearly 13,000 days working from foreign locations last year.
This flexible arrangement allows around 5,000 employees to work remotely in other countries for up to 40 days per year, in addition to the three days a week they can work from home within the UK. The institution's productivity concerns are well-documented, with some questioning whether this culture is exacerbating the issue.
The Telegraph investigation found that civil servants have been abusing flexible working arrangements to extend their holidays and do as little work as possible. Similar concerns may exist at the Bank of England, where staff are being given extraordinary leeway to work from abroad.
