Bank of England Sticks with 3.75% Key Rate Amid Economic Uncertainty
The Bank of England (BoE) has decided to keep its key interest rate at 3.75% for the fifth time this year, maintaining a steady monetary policy in the face of economic uncertainty. This decision was announced by BoE Governor Andrew Bailey during a press conference on July 30, 2026.
The BoE's Monetary Policy Report indicated that inflation remains a concern, with price pressures continuing to affect the economy. However, the central bank has opted for caution, choosing not to raise interest rates further at this time.
The key rate has been held at 3.75% since February, and it is expected that future decisions will be influenced by ongoing economic developments. BoE Deputy Governor Clare Lombardelli noted during the press conference that the bank's focus remains on stabilizing inflation while minimizing harm to the economy.
