The Bank of England has appointed Nicholas Segal as the Chair of its Enforcement Decision Making Committee (EDMC) and Peter King as Deputy Chair. The EDMC is responsible for making decisions on contested enforcement cases in various areas, including Prudential Regulation, Financial Market Infrastructures, and Resolution.

Nicholas Segal's appointment comes after an external recruitment process, which was concluded recently. His term will begin immediately, replacing Sir William Blair who had been serving as Chair until the end of July 2026, along with Philip Marsden who had been Deputy Chair.

David Roberts, the Chair of the Court of the Bank of England, welcomed the new appointments and expressed gratitude to the outgoing Chairs for their service. He described Segal and King's 'deep legal knowledge and experience' as an asset to the Committee.
