Belarusians Shun Euro, Favor Rubles Amid Currency Shift

The National Bank of Belarus has reported that citizens' interest in the euro is near zero. According to Deputy Chairman Andrei Kartun, the share of euros in currency payments has dropped below 20%, with a trend towards complete disinterest.

Kartun also noted that demand for dollars has decreased among Belarusians, while there's been an increase in saving money in Belarusian rubles. The volume of citizens' deposits has surpassed 25 billion rubles, with approximately 70% denominated in rubles. Just a few years ago, around half of the deposits were in dollars.

This shift is evident in the fact that for the third consecutive year, Belarusians are selling more foreign currency than buying it.
