Belgian-Latvian National Missing in Nepal After Mudslide
Julija Jakovicka, a 47-year-old Belgian-Latvian national and employee of the European Central Bank, has gone missing in Nepal after a devastating mudslide swept through the region. Julija was part of a group tour to Tibet and Nepal with 32 other people when disaster struck on August 26.
The group, which consisted mainly of travelers from Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania, had left their hotel in Nagchu, Tibet at around 9 am local time that day. Since then, there has been no sign of life from any of the 33 travellers.
Julija's family is desperately trying to gather information about her whereabouts, and is appealing to anyone who may have seen her or have knowledge about the situation at the border with Nepal to come forward.
