Berlin Refugee Shelter Fire Forces Evacuations Amid Deportation Controversy
A fire broke out at a refugee shelter in Berlin's Spandau district, forcing hundreds of residents to evacuate. The blaze started on the fourth floor of a six-story building that was designed to accommodate around 1,200 people.
The cause of the fire is still unknown, but four people were treated for smoke inhalation, with three taken to hospital.
Meanwhile, a Taliban delegation has arrived in Germany to facilitate the deportation of Afghan nationals. The team of three is staying at the Afghan embassy in Berlin and will also visit Bonn and Munich.
The AfD's youth wing, Generation Deutschland, has broken ranks with its party leadership by calling for Germany not to leave the euro currency. Instead, they want structural flaws in the euro system to be addressed.
