In a recent event at Southern Methodist University, Bessent stated that whenever people question his actions as Treasury Secretary, he responds by saying, 'I have pretty good insight into what the Japanese, what the Bank of Japan is going to do, what Japanese policymakers are going to do.'
Bessent, a former hedge fund executive, emphasized that he has access to information that allows him to make informed predictions about market movements. He even invited traders to bet against him if they think his approach will fail.
