Bessent Expects Stronger Yen as Japan Takes Action
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has expressed his confidence in a strengthening yen. He believes that the Japanese government and the Bank of Japan will take action to achieve this goal. When asked about the issue, he stated, 'I have information that the market doesn't have, and it's my belief that the Japanese government and that the BOJ will do the things that will lead to a stronger yen.'
Bessent also addressed the situation in Iran, stating that the country's economy does not need to collapse, but rather 'just needs to come to its senses.' He emphasized that the US will continue to exert pressure on Iran due to their economic struggles.
In terms of monetary policy, Bessent stated that he is on the same page as Fed Chairman Warsh regarding bonds. However, he declined to speculate about potential actions from the Federal Reserve.
