U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has downplayed concerns about recent movements in the yen, stating that they are 'pretty well contained.'

This assessment suggests that the latest decline of the Japanese currency does not pose a significant threat to stability.

Bessent made these comments during a Reuters interview on Sunday, indicating that the situation is under control.

When asked if the Bank of Japan should pursue more aggressive rate increases, Bessent declined to give direct advice, instead expressing confidence in BOJ Governor Kazuo Ueda's ability to make informed decisions with support from Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
