BetaShares ETF Offers Currency-Hedged Access to Japan's Export-Driven Industries
The BetaShares Japan Currency Hedged ETF (HJPN) offers Australian investors a unique opportunity to access Japan's export-driven industrial and technology giants without the risk of currency fluctuations.
HJPN tracks the S&P Japan Exporters Hedged NR AUD index, which focuses on Japanese companies that generate significant revenues from overseas markets. This typically results in overweight positions in industrials, automotive, technology equipment, and precision instrument companies relative to the broader Japanese market.
The fund has 140 holdings, making it one of the most diversified funds available. Toyota Motor Corp is the top holding at 5.29%, followed by Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group at 5.21%. Tokyo Electron and Hitachi are also among the top ten holdings, representing a cross-section of Japan's industrial and financial export powerhouses.
HJPN distributes semi-annually, with a smaller interim distribution in January and a larger final distribution in July at the close of the financial year. The fund has grown to A$315.81 million in assets under management since its admission to the ASX on 12 May 2016.
