Billionaires Build Underground Bunkers in Swiss Mountains
A Swiss company called Brünig Mega Safe is building underground bunkers for billionaires to store their assets in case of an end-of-the-world disaster.
The caverns, carved out directly into the stone, will be located near the alpine village of Lungern, southwest of Lucerne, Switzerland. They are being dug over 100 meters deep into the limestone and have a natural temperature of around 13C, ideal for storing wine and art.
Prices start at £455,000, with the promise of near-total safety. The company claims its vaults will be comparable to those of the Swiss National Bank.
The bunkers will feature firing ranges, gastro pubs, explosives depots, and facilities for training firefighters. Thomas Gasser, chairman of Brünig Mega Safe, said that people want to safeguard part of their wealth due to rising global instability.
