Bitcoin Soars as Trump Calls Off Iran Strike
Bitcoin surged on Monday after President Donald Trump announced he had called off a planned strike on Iran, easing geopolitical tensions and shifting investor sentiment toward risk assets.
The price of Bitcoin rose 1.05% to $63,449, while Ethereum climbed 2.02%. The market's fear-and-greed index ticked up to 36, still in 'fear' territory but above the prior day's reading of 32 and last month's 21.
The move came after a sharp decline in oil prices, with Brent crude futures falling $5.52, or 6.28%, to $82.41 a barrel, and West Texas Intermediate dropping $5.27, or 6.22%, to $79.40.
Investors are now turning their attention to a busy week of U.S. economic data, including the June Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey on Tuesday and the July nonfarm payrolls report on Friday.
