Bitcoin Stuck Near $80,000 Amid Institutional Demand and Rate Hike Fears
Bitcoin has been trading near $79,777 as it consolidates its position amidst strong institutional demand and fears of a potential Federal Reserve interest rate hike. The digital asset is caught in a tug-of-war between these two opposing forces.
The consistent buying power from institutional investors, particularly through U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs), has been a primary factor supporting the price floor. Over the three-week period ending September 5, 2026, these ETFs recorded approximately $3.8 billion in net inflows.
However, despite this institutional buying, the broader market is facing headwinds that are dampening aggressive price moves. The August jobs report showed a stronger-than-expected growth of 162,000 new positions in the U.S., shifting investor expectations towards a higher probability of interest rate hikes later this month.
