Bitcoin Surges Past $80,000 as Weakening Dollar Boosts Digital Assets
Bitcoin's price has surged above $80,000, its highest level in more than three months, as investors seek refuge from a weakening US dollar. The cryptocurrency gained about 28% so far this month, with some analysts attributing the rise to concerns over currency depreciation and monetary policy intervention.
The US Treasury's recent announcement to increase purchases of longer-term government bonds has sparked fears of inflation and eroding value in fiat currencies, leading investors to reassess their portfolios. Some have turned to digital assets like Bitcoin as a hedge against these risks, with Geoff Kendrick from Standard Chartered stating that the Treasury's move could benefit Bitcoin.
Meanwhile, the US government continues to work on establishing a clearer regulatory framework for the cryptocurrency industry. This uncertainty has not deterred investors, however, who are taking advantage of the market's volatility and seeking diversification in physical and digital assets.
