Canada's Bank of Montreal (BMO) has confirmed that it holds XRP-related financial products in its portfolio. The bank disclosed its holdings in a recent quarterly 13F-HR report filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The report showed that as of June 30, 2026, BMO's total investment portfolio exceeded $303 billion. The bank held 323 shares of the REX Osprey XRP ETF and 20 shares of the ProShares Ultra XRP ETF.

BMO accessed XRP through spot and derivatives ETFs, which provides exposure to the token within a familiar legal framework without direct custody risk. This trend is also observed in Canada's banking sector, with National Bank of Canada holding 3,848 shares of the Bitwise XRP ETF worth about $330,000.

The composition of major institutional investors has changed, with early large participants such as Goldman Sachs reducing or fully unwinding their holdings around the summer. Mid-sized asset managers and family offices have filled the gap, choosing a more flexible approach by spreading funds across traditional spot funds and short-term leveraged products.
