BoC Holds Rates Steady Amid Inflation Concerns and Uncertainty
The Bank of Canada (BoC) has maintained its overnight rate at 2.25%, in line with market expectations, as USD/CAD declined around 0.15% on Wednesday.
The Canadian Dollar strengthened modestly against the US Dollar following the decision, trading near 1.3875.
Policymakers emphasized that the economic outlook remains unusually uncertain due to ongoing developments in the Middle East and uncertainty surrounding US tariffs.
The BoC noted that labor demand remains subdued while several economic indicators point to excess supply, reducing the immediate need for tighter monetary policy.
