BoE Holds Interest Rates Steady Amid Easing Inflation Concerns
The Bank of England (BoE) maintained its benchmark interest rate at 3.75%, in line with market expectations, as it assessed the UK's economic conditions.
The decision reflected the central bank's view that domestic inflationary pressures were beginning to ease, even though price growth remains above its long-term target.
The BoE's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) voted 6-3 in favor of keeping the current interest rate. The split was more hawkish than economists had forecasted, with three officials backing a rate increase, one more than predicted.
Britain's two-year government bond yield extended its decline after the announcement, trading around 4.38%, down seven basis points on the day. Sterling showed a modest reaction, last trading 0.1% higher at $1.339.
