BoE Holds Interest Rates Steady Amid Inflation Concerns

The Bank of England is expected to keep interest rates steady at 3.75% for its fifth consecutive meeting on Thursday, despite concerns about inflation and a recent surge in oil prices.

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) policymakers are seen voting 7-2 to leave rates unchanged, the same as in June. The decision will be closely watched, as it could impact the value of the Pound Sterling against other currencies.

The Bank's Governor Andrew Bailey has been cautious about raising interest rates, citing concerns about inflation and economic growth. However, some economists believe that a rate hike may be necessary to keep prices in check.

According to Reuters, 58 out of 70 respondents expect the Bank Rate to remain at 3.75% through 2026. In contrast, market pricing suggests around 40 basis points of tightening by year-end, which is seen as aggressive given current conditions.
