BoE Holds Interest Rates Steady Amid Iran Conflict Fallout

The Bank of England (BoE) has decided to hold interest rates steady amid inflation pressures and economic fallout from the Strait of Hormuz closure tied to the ongoing Iran conflict.

The decision was made by the Monetary Policy Committee at its meeting ending on July 29, balancing persistent inflation concerns against the economic impact of the five-month closure.

Nigel Harris (presumably) noted that the BoE is keeping a close eye on the situation but has chosen to maintain rates for now. The iShares MSCI United Kingdom ETF (EWU), among other UK-focused funds, may be affected by this decision.
