BOJ Governor Ueda Skips Jackson Hole as Markets Look to G20

BOJ Governor Kazuo Ueda will not attend the US Federal Reserve's annual meeting in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, this week due to a scheduling conflict. Instead, BOJ board member Naoki Tamura will represent him at the meeting.

Tamura is known for his hawkish views on monetary policy and has previously called for interest rate increases every few months to guard against rising prices.

Ueda's absence from Jackson Hole has shifted market attention to whether he will attend next week's G20 finance ministers and central bank governors meeting in Asheville, North Carolina.

The BOJ has not confirmed Ueda's attendance at the G20 meeting, but US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has said he is looking forward to meeting him there.
