BOJ Governor Ueda Skips Jackson Hole, Markets Eye G20

The Bank of Japan's Governor Kazuo Ueda will not attend the Jackson Hole gathering in Wyoming, where his absence is expected to shift market focus to the upcoming G20 finance leaders' meeting.

Tamura, a BOJ board member and hawk on interest rates, will participate in the Jackson Hole meeting instead. He has publicly called for raising interest rates every few months to counter upside risks to prices.

The absence of Ueda at Jackson Hole is significant because new Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's speech would have huge repercussions for Japan due to swings in the yen and bond yields, analysts say.
