The Bank of Japan (BOJ) has decided to keep its benchmark interest rate unchanged at around 1.0 percent, following a two-day policy meeting. This decision comes after the BOJ raised the rate to a 31-year-high last month.

The central bank also released its latest quarterly economic outlook report, which estimates that Japan's economy will grow by 0.6 percent in the current fiscal year that started in April. This is an increase from its earlier projection of 0.5 percent expansion.

Core consumer prices, excluding volatile fresh food, are estimated to rise by 2.5 percent in fiscal 2026, down from the 2.8 percent forecast in April.
