The Bank of Japan (BoJ) has decided to keep its main interest rate unchanged at 1.0 percent, following an increase to a 31-year high in June.

This decision was widely expected by markets and came as bank officials face pressure to tighten monetary policy due to rising inflation and the yen's weakness against the dollar.

The BoJ revised its economic growth outlook for this year, slightly increasing it to 0.6 percent, and its inflation forecast to 2.5 percent from 2.8 percent previously expected.
