BOJ Keeps Policy Rate Steady Amid Warning of Broad Price Increases
The Bank of Japan (BOJ) has decided to maintain its policy rate at around 1.0% after a two-day policy meeting on July 31.
In its quarterly outlook report, the BOJ warned that higher crude oil costs and the weaker yen could lead to increased prices across various consumer goods.
The central bank stated that companies are passing on higher costs to customers at a 'somewhat faster pace' due to rising crude oil prices.
The BOJ also noted that higher import prices caused by the yen's depreciation will contribute to price increases across a wide range of products.
