BOJ Keeps Rates Steady Amid Inflation Fears
The Bank of Japan (BOJ) maintained its interest rates steady on July 31 at 1 per cent, as decided by an 8-1 vote. Board member Hajime Takata was the sole dissenter, advocating for a rate hike to 1.25 per cent.
The BOJ's decision to keep rates unchanged comes despite rising inflation risks. In a statement, Governor Kazuo Ueda emphasized the central bank's readiness to continue pushing up borrowing costs if necessary.
