BOJ Policymakers Seek Faster Rate Hikes Amid Inflation Risks
The Bank of Japan's July monetary policy meeting revealed that some policymakers expressed concerns about the pace of interest rate hikes, citing upside risks to inflation.
According to a summary of opinions at the meeting, one BOJ member stated, 'It cannot be said that the risk of waiting is marginal, and it is therefore necessary for the bank to accelerate the pace of adjustment to the degree of monetary accommodation.'
Another opinion suggested that the BOJ had entered a new phase where it must adopt a nimble approach and discuss the size of rate hikes without adhering to a certain pace.
