BOJ Rate Hike Expectations Weigh Down USD/JPY
The USD/JPY pair has been hovering near 153.50 as expectations of a rate hike by the Bank of Japan intensify.
Recent hawkish signals from BOJ officials, coupled with improved forecasts for wage growth and economic expansion, have reinforced market expectations that the normalization of Japan's monetary policy is accelerating.
The latest policy signals have further reinforced this rationale. Bank of Japan Board Member Kazuhide Masuda stated that, should inflation continue to accelerate, the BOJ may need to raise interest rates more swiftly to prevent real interest rates from remaining persistently too low.
