BOJ Tees Up Another Rate Hike Hint Ahead of Key September Meeting
The Bank of Japan has scheduled another speaking event ahead of its next policy meeting in September. This time, Board Member Kazuyuki Masu will deliver a speech and hold a news conference on September 10.
This adds to two existing similar events featuring hawkish Board Member Hajime Takata on September 2 and Deputy Governor Ryozo Himino on August 27.
The BOJ has been following past practices, where it gives advance signals of rate hikes in speeches delivered by executives in pre-scheduled events. These events will allow the BOJ to repeat this practice for a potential rate increase in September.
