BoJ & US Treasury Secretary Deploy Up to $105B in Yen Intervention

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has led joint interventions to stabilize Japan's yen, along with the Bank of Japan (BoJ). This effort is critical for global markets and AI sector stability.

The interventions have already sparked a 2.5% rally in the yen since August, with up to $105B deployed and potential for $200B in staged support.

However, traders appear bearish on the BoJ/Bessent's efforts, prompting strong words from the US Treasury Secretary against critics yesterday.

The Japanese Ministry of Finance has a broad toolkit at its disposal, including the Fed's FIMA Repo, reducing the risk of large US Treasury sales to fund interventions.
