BOJ Vows to Keep Raising Interest Rates Amid Rising Inflation Concerns
Kazuyuki Masu, a member of the Bank of Japan's Policy Board, emphasized that the central bank will continue to raise benchmark interest rates to prevent price trends from exceeding 2%.
In a speech on Thursday, Masu stated, 'Given that current price trends are very close to 2% and financial conditions remain accommodative, the Bank of Japan will continue to raise policy rates.'
He highlighted that from now on, it is essential to ensure that underlying inflation does not significantly exceed 2%, adding that raising policy rates will allow the rate to settle firmly within the estimated neutral rate range.
