BOJ Vows to Raise Interest Rates Amid Rising Inflation
Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda has pledged to continue raising interest rates as financial conditions remain accommodative. He stated that the BOJ will debate this month whether upside inflation risks are increasing, with underlying inflation close to the bank's 2% target.
Ueda emphasized that the central bank must pay particular attention to inflationary risks when guiding policy, considering the cumulative impact of past rate hikes on the economy. The BOJ is set to meet later in September, with markets largely pricing in a rate hike amid rising Japanese inflation and a weak yen.
