BOJ's Himino Signals Cautious Approach to Future Interest Rate Hikes
The Bank of Japan's Deputy Governor Ryozo Himino emphasized that the central bank will carefully balance incoming economic data against inflation risks when deciding on future interest rate moves.
Speaking to business leaders in Tokyo, Himino noted that while the economy is recovering moderately, uncertainties remain, particularly regarding wage growth and consumption patterns.
The BOJ's policy decisions will be guided by a thorough assessment of both economic activity and price developments. Himino stated that the bank will wait for sustained 2% inflation before further rate hikes, after ending negative interest rates earlier this year.
